Thank you for that quasi-disturbing mental image...
To my eternal shame I never saw Trip Shakespeare perform live, except at Riverfest in 1989 when I was making my way to the main stage to see Bob Dylan and I found them playing on one of the smaller stages. All I saw was the final few minutes of 'toolmaster,' which turned out to be their finale. It just wasn't in the cards.
The video is OK, but if you are going to do the "rooftop" thing you almost have to take it to another level in terms of police intervention, kind of like these guys did -- although they weren't on a rooftop. (That was the intro to 'Kids don't follow' for those of you who were confused). Or at least shoot the video when it's actually snowing, fer crying out loud.
Snow Days is one of my favorite studio songs - I just loved the way those guys played together. Sometimes I wish that I could just jump into a Delorean and go back and save that band.
I saw Semisonic a few years ago at a giant lite beer sloshfest here in the twin cities... They were good of course but nowhere near the same band. More successful doesn't always mean better.
One of my old band mates used to call me "The Toolmaster" - and it wasn't meant as a compliment.
ReplyDeleteDon't make me start up the old machinery!
Cool video.
